Several other lyricists have written for the same melody, usually retaining Wilhousky's bell theme. A 1947 version, "Ring, Christmas Bells", is a Christian devotional song. There is also an English adaptation of the original Ukrainian by 1032: 244:'s song, known in English as "The Little Swallow". It tells the story of a swallow flying into a household to proclaim the plentiful and bountiful year that the family will have. The title is derived from the Ukrainian word for "bountiful".
