The Ryrie family attempted, unsuccessfully, to dispose of Arnprior, in 1844, possibly in relation to Stewart Ryrie's insolvency. However, well before then, William Ryrie had turned his attention to the settlement opportunities of the Port Phillip District. It may have been that William just wanted to
