It was this site that would eventually become Norwood, though during the early decades it was known as Keeler's Mill. That year, the mill complex was upgraded and expanded with additional machinery, and Keeler had part of his property divided into village lots. Keeler also changed the name of his settlement to Norwood, reflecting the colloquial appellation "North woods". This new village quickly grew, with the first church built that year, and the first store the year after. The first school in Asphodel existed at Keeler's Mill by 1832, four years prior to Keeler's division of his property.
