While the remaining 9% think they are contributing but only restating or reiterating content thats already been stated in a comment thread to which they are responding but didnt bother read. An entire social media thread could be compressed to 1% of its size if all the redundancies, meaninglessness, and common knowledge was removed.

Although I don't have a scientific study/survey at hand, it is my long-term experience that for every one person who reports a problem with a product (software or hardware), 99 others have the problem but don't report it (the equivalent of lurkers).
