156:"El escudo de Chaparral fue adoptado mediante acuerdo del Concejo Nº 0010 del 29 de Agosto de 1978. Es la representación de diversos elementos y recursos que pueden disfrutar sus residentes y visitantes, en él podemos apreciar el azul del cielo o firmamento purificado por la reserva natural del parque nacional Las Hermosas; acompañado de una de las atracciones naturales siendo las cuevas de Tuluní y Copete; bañado por su inmensa riqueza hídrica entre ellos el río Amoyá y Tetuán quienes desembocan en el río Saldaña, el limita al municipio por el sur; igualmente representa sus riquezas minera como el oro y su gran producción agropecuaria del café; y sobretodo nuestro mayor legado, siendo la cuna de tres (3) presidentes y grandes líderes nacionales e internacionales. Otra descripción según "Chaparral en Cifras" es: Su forma circular y dividida en dos hemisferios descansa sobre un fondo de colores azul claro, azul oscuro y amarillo, representan las siluetas de las cordilleras, montañas, cerros, colinas, valles y sabanas; fuentes hídricas, variedad de climas y además se dibujan una serie de elementos relacionado con lo más sobresaliente de Chaparral: La lanza significa la lucha por la libertad y la supervivencia. El espíritu indomable de la raza altiva, fuerte y aguerrida que defendió con vigor y rebeldía hasta la muerte, la tierra en que sentó sus dominios. Los pergaminos representan la nobleza y la cultura, la inmensa, la exquisita y variada riqueza intelectual de que se enorgullece este pueblo. Es la lista infinita de sus hijos que en múltiples oportunidades le han dado lustre y prestigio nacional e internacional. El brazo y la mano rebosante de varios productos se plasman en señal de gratitud a la naturaleza que ha sido inmensamente pródiga con su suelo por lo cual es incomparablemente rico en valiosos y variados metales, en flora, en fauna y frutos. Igualmente es un homenaje al hombre labriego por sus meritos en el campo. La rama del cafeto, este grano prodigioso es y ha sido por muchos años el principal renglón de su economía por su exquisito aroma y excelente calidad. El arco negro rebordeado en verde son las famosas cuevas de Tuluní. Este motivo, representa a la vez todas las demás bellezas naturales que Dios en su bondad quiso plasmar en la portentosa y fascinante geografía de esta tierra incomparable."
