On 30 December 2020 the first 120 Faroese persons were vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNtech. The first vaccines were given to staff from the three hospitals. On 5 January 2021 the first COVID-19 death took place in the Faroe Islands on the National Hospital in Tórshavn.

He said that the massive testing on Whit Monday and the following days was one of the reasons why it seemed to be a success to stop the spreading of the virus.
