1831:(Australia declared war on Nazi Germany for invading Poland). Consequently, the Communist Party of Australia opposed and sought to disrupt Australia's war effort against Germany in the early stages of the war under orders of the Comintern on the grounds that it was a war between imperialist nations, and not in the interests of the working class. Menzies banned the CPA after the fall of France in 1940, but by 1941 Stalin was forced to join the allied cause when Hitler reneged on the Pact and invaded the USSR. The USSR came to bear the brunt of the carnage of Hitler's war machine and the Communist Party in Australia lost its early war stigma as a result. Its membership rose to 20,000, it won control of a number of important trade unions, and a Communist candidate, 1895: 74: 459: 9017: 1386: 1110: 4196: 1098: 1086: 5064: 5003: 4158: 4127: 3992: 3961: 3930: 3899: 3868: 3837: 3806: 3775: 3740: 3709: 3678: 3571: 3540: 3509: 3390: 3359: 3328: 3297: 3266: 3235: 3204: 3173: 3142: 3111: 3080: 3049: 3018: 2987: 2956: 2925: 2894: 2863: 2804: 2773: 2742: 6645: 6615: 6585: 6555: 6525: 6495: 6465: 6435: 6405: 6375: 6345: 6315: 6285: 6217: 6187: 6157: 6127: 6097: 6067: 6037: 6007: 5977: 5947: 5917: 5887: 5857: 5789: 5759: 5729: 5699: 5623: 5558: 5528: 5498: 5468: 5438: 5408: 5378: 5348: 5318: 5288: 5258: 5228: 5155: 5125: 5095: 5034: 4973: 4943: 4913: 4883: 4853: 4785: 4755: 4725: 4695: 4665: 4635: 4605: 4575: 4545: 4515: 4485: 4455: 4425: 4395: 4365: 4335: 4305: 4275: 3421: 2112:(acronym for "Social Education, Action and Research Concerning Humanity"), a not-for-profit company set up in 1990 "to preserve and draw on the resources of the Communist Party of Australia and its archives."
