In desperation I restarted my computer and then all was fine. Question - does WP have a time delay when images are replaced or is my iMac browser ignoring my request to empty it's cache?

are exactly in synch. When you run into a caching issue, though, it may be that traffic is high and either the Squids or the database servers are slightly behind in updating, or are serving a cached page instead of the latest update. It never takes long to catch up, and usually a user would never notice, but it

can be served the same page every time until the page changes, we lighten the load on our servers by using a layer of "Squid servers". The page request goes first to the Squid, which, if nothing has changed since the last cache, sends a cached copy of page to readers -- that is, non-logged in users

239:
In addition, if the Squids pass on the request to the main servers, there's a "round robin DNS" system which finds the machine with the lightest load at that millisecond, and sends your request there. MOST of the time, this is totally transparent, and MOST of the time, all of the physical servers

Hydnjo - I saw your message on Jimbo's talk page, and (I'm going to be a bit impertinent here) speaking for the rest of the admins, I'd like to say you're welcome. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in private on my talk page, or on the

When you're logged in, it's not supposed to send you a cached page, but sometimes it does, especially if there's a lot of traffic at the moment, or a lot of changes have been made to a page within a short time. 77: 152:(From Hydnjo): Experimenting around it seems that my original upload needs a "syop" to delete. Sorry about that, I'll be more careful in the future. Would a "syop" please help. Delete everything if you wish and I'll start over. Thanks 467:) but it still shows the earlier (right-side-up) image even after doing your reload suggestion. I even restarted my computer which closes all apps and restarts them. Something strange here - I'll let you know if I ever figure it out. 509:. I appreciate it but I don't know how you do it. So, are you watching us or what? I've tried watching "Recent changes" so I know that's not how we get flagged, it's just too damn cluttered. An interested newcomer: 244:

If you haven't tried it out yet, there is a thumbnail feature for JPEGs that allows you to keep a large picture linked to a smaller preview version that shows up on the page when you first view it.

Well look at that, in the time that it took to type this message to you, the image flipped upside-down. Strange - some kind of time delay to work through the system (I think).

Hi, I noticed you were experimenting with different sized versions of your photo. It appears that the last version of your photo was manually resized to be thumbnail sized.

I saw above your problem with reloading image and seeing the old version, you can work around this by forcing a reload in your browser (shift reload for safari I think)
