Lusitanian tribe itself was named - the name of the God Luga/Luz - Christ. Since the name Luz in Portugal is now considered feminine, and the name of the ancestor of the Luz tribe (i.e. the Portuguese), the pagan god Luz, cannot be named after a church dedicated to Christ, the clergy came up with a legend. Allegedly, the church was named after Luz not in honor of the god Luz-Christ, but in honor of Our Lady of Light, and on August 15, 2010, it was declared a shrine of Our Lady of Light by A. M.
