The damn thing flies true and straight, despite a few hundred pounds of additional metal. At one point he bombs the bad guys using a batarang that has been "modified not to return." I think that a non-returning boomerang is just a missile, guys.

In The Dark Knight, Batman doesn't further disfigure The Joker's face with the arm spikes. The projectiles just make him drop the detonator and distract him. There are no spikes stuck in him when he is hauled back up to Batman, and no fresh marks on his face.
