Dynamite Entertainment and Brian Yuzna would settle their trademark dispute out of court in 2013, with Yuzna dropping his lawsuit under the agreement that Dynamite would no longer use imagery or the likeness of any characters from the films. Following this agreement, Dynamite Entertainment has continued using a close approximation of the likeness of actor Jeffery Combs for their comics featuring the Herbert West character, though none of their titles published before or since are connected to the 1985 film or it's sequels. 2058: 917:, and even spawned a short-lived series of comic books. Even though it was a hit with audiences, the film generated a huge amount of controversy among Lovecraft readers. Fans thought the film a desecration of Lovecraft; their literary hero would never write such obvious exploitation!
