The conflict in the larger area continued, with continued damage in the countryside surrounding Bandung. Commander Nasution, when later questioned on why he did not hold the city, argued that he did not want to sacrifice his units and had opted to conduct guerilla warfare in the city with his still relatively intact battalions.
