Although O'Brien attempted to organize games on November 30 (ruled out due to the Taylorville–Spring Valley game) and December 7 (plagued by concerns of inclement weather), Staley and Wasem ended discussions as they argued the Independents would have to hire 215:, the Staley Manufacturing athletic field, which had a seating capacity of 1,500 with another 1,000 standing.
